Duanesburg diner staple closing after nearly 70 years
DUANESBURG – A long-standing diner in Duanesburg, Gibby’s, will permanently close its doors this weekend.
It’s not because of the pandemic. It’s not because they can’t find enough staff or get supplies delivered. The owners just say it’s time.

Loyal customers are quickly realizing they’re running out of time to get one more meal.
The diner opened on July 9, 1952, and is named for the original owner. It’s remained in the same family all these years.
Gibby’s will be open through the weekend, but they close at 11:30 Sunday morning.

With the rush of people trying to place just one more order, they’re concerned they might run out of food before then, so keep an eye on their Facebook page.
Hear the owners talk about what was behind the tough decision, and from longtime customers sad to see it go, by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger’s story.
