Final New York State Thruway toll barrier removed
It was the end of an era on the New York State Thruway Monday. The final toll barrier was being removed.
It was located at Exit 60 in Westfield, which is in the western part of the state.
The Thruway has been slowly phasing in cashless tolling, which replaces toll plazas with gantries and cameras that keep track of cars, E-ZPass, and all charges that need to be paid. The main ticketing system went live in November 2020.
