Florida man admits to installing skimming devices in Capital Region
A Florida man has pleaded guilty in federal court in Albany to stealing the identities of drivers in Albany and Montgomery counties.
Hugo Hernandez, 34, of Miami, admits he installed skimming devices on gas pumps and then used the information from those devices to create fake credit cards and debit cards. Those fake cards were then used to buy $173,000 worth of money orders that Hernandez deposited in his bank account.
He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
