Pharmacy Manager Ed Ullman says he wanted to do this so he could better serve the community.
Ullman came up with the idea during the COVID pandemic.
His pharmacy is currently raising funds and taking the necessary steps to transition to being a non-profit. According to Ullman, just about every other retail pharmacy in the country is for profit. He believes this new model will help level the playing field.
Ullman says health care should be focused on helping people and not necessarily generating a revenue.
He believes other pharmacies may follow their lead.
