A new group of students is heading to college thanks to a scholarship from the city of Albany and Albany police.
The HERO Scholarship is short for "Hope to Engage in Education to Revitalize the Opportunity in Our Community."
Two students will pursue a career in education at Mildred Elley.
The school offers two-year programs and professional certification.
One of the recipients, Leroy Bowen, says he hopes to become a massage therapist.
The students are studying fields in health care, education and public safety that will make a difference in the city.
