Spooky skeletons, silly scarecrows, and your favorite Halloween monsters, all made up of jack-o-lanterns, have taken over the Altamont Fairgrounds for the Hollowed Harvest.
The walk-through event, which runs from late September through the end of October, features more than 7,000 jack-o-lanterns.
"With all of our jack-o-lantern displays, I think it takes you a second to figure out what you are looking at," said Leanne Ricchiuti, of BOLD Media. "It’s really a great show for all ages."
It takes months to design the displays.
"The prep for the show begins almost immediately at the close of the show for the next year," Ricchiuti explained. "Once all the planning, preparations, and carving are done, it takes between two and three weeks with a crew of about 50 or so to really put it together."
This is the second year for the Hollowed Harvest at the fairgrounds, and they’re thrilled to welcome people back for a COVID-safe event with completely new displays.
"It’s completely an outdoor event, it’s walkable, and we’re following the CDC guideline," she said. "We are asking for all tickets to be purchased ahead of time online. That’s kind of how we can ensure the safety factor, as well as ensure that everyone has enough time to walk through the event and take their time doing it."
The event opens to the public on Friday. For more information on how to purchase tickets, click here.
