RENSSELAER – A man is facing felony charges after police say he injured an officer in Rensselaer.

Rensselaer police say they were called to the Stewart’s on Partition Street Sunday night for a report of a domestic incident.

Police say a woman locked herself in the bathroom after she says her boyfriend threatened to hit and stab her.

As officers were searching the area, they saw a person matching the suspect’s description inside the Amtrak station.

Police say as they tried to talk to Adam Matteson, he struck an officer and then fled on foot.

They later found Matteson under a deck of a home on Elm Street with a knife.

He was taken into custody.

That injured officer got several stitches at Albany Medical Center.
