New general manager named for WNYT & WNYA
Hubbard Broadcasting has named a new vice president and general manager for WNYT NewsChannel 13 and WNYA My4. Jon Hitchcock will take over as the leader of the Albany television stations in January.
Hitchcock is currently president and general manager of Fox 61 and CW 20 in Hartford and New Haven, Connecticut.
Before that, he was president and general manager of CBS3 and CW Philly in Philadelphia. He earned several distinguished media honors during his time there, including the Edward Murrow Award.
“WNYT and My4 have a rich history of serving New York’s Capital Region with a committed team of professionals. For over 25 years, Albany has been a second home for me with family in the area,” said Hitchcock. “I feel extremely fortunate to join Hubbard Broadcasting and build upon its standard of excellence in an area I’m passionate about.”
Hitchcock’s wife grew up in South Glens Falls.
He attended Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
“We are excited to have Jon Hitchcock join our team with his knowledge of the broadcast industry and commitment to serving our viewers,” said Rob Hubbard, president of Hubbard Television. “Jon will be a great asset to the station and to the community of Albany, New York.”
Hitchcock begins at WNYT and WNYA on Jan. 4.
He succeeds Steve Baboulis, who stepped down in September after a 44-year career that included 25 years as general manager.
