New data out Friday shows New York’s adding more private jobs to its workforce.
According to the Department of Labor, more than 27,000 jobs were added to the private sector in May. That’s in line with the national average – which also went up .3%.
The state surveyed some 18,000 businesses to get these numbers.
The state unemployment rate decreased by a tenth of a percent.
In May 2021, the unemployment rate was stuck at 7% – it’s now down to about 4%.
May was the fifth straight month New York’s unemployment dropped.
