NY state’s COVID positivity rate skyrockets to nearly 20%

New York state’s daily COVID positivity rate is now 19.33%, according to the latest numbers released by Gov. Hochul on Tuesday.
That means nearly one in five people who is being tested is testing positive.
The 7-day average is 13.36%
There was a net increase of 647 more people hospitalized with the virus, bringing the total to 6,173.
Sadly, another 77 people died.
The 7-day positivity rate in the Capital Region is 9.96%.
The 7-day positivity rate in the Mohawk Valley is 9.43%.
That means nearly one in 10 people are now testing positive in those places.
"Before visiting friends and family, please get yourself tested and make sure you are vaccinated and boosted, if eligible. Please remember to wear a mask when gathering with others. If we all do what’s right, we can make 2022 a very different year from the hardships we’ve had to endure so far," said Gov. Hochul in a statement.
