The New York State Department of Health says COVID vaccines remain 92% to 95% effective at preventing hospitalizations among the vaccinated. That is news people want to hear, as we learn more about breakthrough cases.
The study examined rates of COVID cases and hospitalizations of vaccinated New Yorkers over the age of 18.
That’s compared to unvaccinated people from early May to late last month.
New York is the first state to conduct this study.
Right now, 95% of the recent positives in New York are linked to the delta variant.
