SUNY Oswego President Deborah Stanley will serve as interim chancellor of the SUNY system. The SUNY Board of Trustees made that announcement Monday morning.
Stanley was set to retire from her role at SUNY Oswego at the end of the year. She’s been leading the Oswego campus since 1997.
The previous chancellor — Jim Malatras, a longtime advisor to former Gov. Andrew Cuomo — resigned on Dec. 9 after being caught up in the scandal surrounding Cuomo.
A national search will be conducted to find a permanent chancellor to lead SUNY – the largest public education system in the nation.
