Pickup truck crashes into Loughberry Lake in Wilton

There was concern about spilled oil after a pickup truck crashed into Loughberry Lake in Wilton on Sunday morning.
The truck was traveling on Loughberry Lake Road when it crashed into the lake around 4 a.m. The Greenfield Fire Department, state police, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, and Saratoga Springs Department of Public Works all responded to the call.
The DEC called an environmental cleanup crew to the scene to contain any oil that leaked from the truck.
The City of Saratoga Springs relies on Loughberry Lake as it’s main water supply. The water treatment plant nearby was shut down in order to determine the extent of the oil spill. The plant was back up and running by 9 a.m. after the truck was removed from the lake.
The driver of the truck was not hurt. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
