SWAMSCOTT, Mass. – Students in some Boston-area schools are still learning remotely. In an effort to reconnect, teachers sent home pinwheel kits.
Pinwheels for Peace was started in 2005 by two Florida high school teachers as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives.
Two Swampscott, Massachusetts teachers embraced the project and organized the town’s 2018 Pinwheels For Peace display on International Peace Day.
The event was stripped down in 2020 and this year, the teachers were determined to use the pinwheels to connect to their students.
While the students may have assembled their pinwheels alone, this beautiful display in Linscott Park unites their creativity and the community.
