PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Residents of Pittsfield are speaking out after the death of Miguel Estrella.
Estrella was shot and killed by Pittsfield police during a mental health crisis.
Police shot him when he advanced towards them with a knife.
NewsChannel 13’s media partners at the Berkshire Eagle report that during a Police Advisory and Review Board Meeting, board members discussed a change in the way police engage with residents.
The vice chair said the public deserves to know about Pittsfield police’s role in the shooting, but changes will be made after the chief determines if the officers’ actions align with department regulations.
