Police: Victim in Troy water rescue was attempting suicide

TROY – Brutally cold temperatures created challenges for crews rescuing a man who ended up in the Hudson River Sunday in Troy.

Police say the man jumped off the seawall while trying to commit suicide.

Firefighter Rich Bellamy had to be lowered into the frigid water to rescue him.

The man pulled from the river was taken to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.
