Retired Albany police pleads not guilty in connection with October arrest
A retired Albany police lieutenant is free on bail after pleading not guilty to robbery and assault.
Michael Barone from Colonie was arrested in October for shooting 35-year-old Michael Brothers in the leg.
The shooting took place in Brothers’ apartment in Rensselaer and police say Barone drove his victim to Albany Medical Center
Brothers is a convicted felon and drug dealer.
Barone was originally charged with attempted murder, but a grand jury did not indict him on that charge.
