Safety tips if you must drive in the snow

During big snowstorms, drivers are often told to avoid the roads if at all possible, but what if you must leave home?

Here are some important tips:

Check the weather forecast and continue to monitor the situation.

Leave extra time to get to your destination.

Drive slowly. Lower your speed to 10 miles per hour below the posted speed limit.

Accelerate and decelerate gradually.

Increase following distance.

Don’t stop if you can avoid it.
