Schenectady City School District has named its 2022 "Teacher of the Year."
Carrie White was in her 2nd grade classroom at Yates Elementary School in Schenectady on Monday morning, when her husband, kids, and the superintendent came in to surprise her.
White has been with the district 14 years. She even student taught at this elementary school.
She has transitioned with her students, going from 1st grade with them to 2nd.
She was surprised, honored and proud.
"My goal every day is to provide the best education for these students, and to provide the same opportunities that our surrounding suburban districts have," she said.
