State Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara is introducing legislation aimed at wiping out tolls on the New York state Thruway, but only temporarily.

The bill calls for eliminating Thruway tolls for the months of June, July and August.

Santabarbara is hoping it would help to boost travel and tourism as New York state recovers from the pandemic.

According to his plan, the toll loss to the Thruway would be covered by federal fund surplus.

Santabarbara’s office say they do have support in the State Senate.
