Stefanik says Pelosi bears responsibility for Capitol riot

Rep. Elise Stefanik is placing blame on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol. She made her comments as a House select committee began hearing testimony about the incident.

Stefanik, who represents New York’s North Country, says Pelosi was made aware in December of potential security threats at the Capitol.

"The American people should know that Nancy Pelosi bears responsibility as the Speaker of the House for the tragedy that occurred on January 6th," she said.

Stefanik, the House GOP conference chair, was one of several Republicans who spoke at a news conference Tuesday morning outside the Capitol. Their appearance was timed to coincide with the start of the select committee’s first hearing.
