UAlbany is now home to a new $180 million weather complex.
It’s called ETEC. It’s short for Emerging Technology and Entrepreneurship Complex.
ETEC will be focused on weather, climate, and emergency preparedness.
The new building is located on the Harriman State Office Campus.
Scientists and entrepreneurs will come together from different sectors to find solutions to some of society’s most complex challenges.
The New York State Mesonet and the National Weather Service are in the same building.
"This building is meant to be a collaboration, not only of different units within the university, but also the university with the public sector, in being the weather service or the State Emergency Management Office," said Ryan Torn, department chairman and professor.
