Vermont maple season begins

Maple season is officially underway in Vermont.

Gov. Phil Scott did the ceremonial tree tap earlier this week at the Proctor Maple Research Center. The center is celebrating its 75th anniversary and has 6,000 trees, providing about a half gallon of maple syrup per tree.

Last year’s maple season in Vermont produced a lower than normal yield.
