NewsChannel 13 salutes Air Force Captain Norma Purdy of Pittsfield.
The wife and mother of five served from 1951 until 1954.
She was part of a medical team sent to the Bering Sea coast to inoculate the native population during a diphtheria outbreak.
Her husband, Thomas, also served.
