Colonie junior Jacob Tirado bowled a high three-game series of 890 (290, 300, 300) in the boys’ match against Shaker Thursday night. Tirado posted 35 consecutive strikes and one spare. According to the U.S. High School Bowling Foundation, Tirado has set a new national record for boys’ bowlers, shattering the previous record of 867 most recently set by Nick Vuono of North Babylon in 2023. Tirado also resets the Section II and New York State records. The previous state record of 831 was set by Bryan Komornik from Section I in 2000.

In February 2024, Tirado set a new state record for a high six-game series with a score of 1532.
