The season of so many twists and turns for the Albany Empire came to a sudden end on Thursday.
Players and fans were blindsided by the news of the National Arena League kicking the Albany Empire out.
MVP Arena General Manager Bob Belber says he feels sorry for the fans and everyone else affected by this decision. However, he firmly believes there will be another arena football team next year.
There has been a lot of chaos surrounding the Empire since former NFL player Antonio Brown took over ownership of the team earlier this year.
Other owners in the National Arena League voted unanimously to make this move after Brown failed to pay his league dues totaling $21,000, which are owed by every team monthly.
Brown had until noon on Thursday to make the payment.
Learn about the next steps the arena is taking to try and make that happen by watching the video of Caitlin Irla’s story.
