The day's major news events, business reports, local sports updates, weather information and tomorrow's forecast are presented by the NewsChannel 13 Team.

More than 7,500 runners and walkers representing over 450 area businesses filled Empire Plaza Thursday afternoon for the 18th-annual CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge. The three and half mile race is a major fundraiser the Hudson-Mohawk Road Runners Club. Nearly $24,000 was raised.

This year’s top finisher on the men’s side was Jared Lamson with time of 17:06. The 22-year-old, who ran for the Ciccoti Center, has a rich athletic background as a gymnast, diver, and tri-athlete. He says he got into running five years ago. This was his first time running in this event.

The winner on the women’s side was Karen Bertasso-Hughes with a time 20:05. This is the sixth win for the 41-year-old, and her second-fastest time. Bertasso ran for the Albany Stratton VA.
