Albany man faces drug charges after traffic stop

An Albany man is accused of possessing crack cocaine.

Derrell O. Carter, 39, was stopped in the area of Broad Street and Alexander Street just after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Carter had about 18 grams of crack cocaine, which was packaged for distribution, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office.

Carter was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally using drug paraphernalia, obstructing governmental administration and a traffic violation.

He is being held in Albany County Jail and was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
