Colonie, Schodack police urge people to lock cars after theft concerns

Colonie and Schodack Police are issuing alerts about thefts from cars.

The Colonie alert came after an incident in the Maryland Avenue area.

The warning comes following an incident Thursday night.

Police say at around 10:30 p.m. officers were called out regarding a person allegedly attempting to steal from a vehicle in the neighborhood.

Police are now calling on those in the area to check their home surveillance footage to see if anyone captured the alleged suspect.

Police are urging everyone to make sure their cars are locked and to use outside lighting during nighttime hours.

Meanwhile, police in Schodack said they’re investigating several thefts from unlocked motor vehicles in town.
