CVS closes downtown Schenectady store
The CVS in downtown Schenectady has closed.
The store at 415 State St. closed on Sept. 12, according to company spokeswoman Amy Thibault.
The closure is part of the company’s strategy to reduce around 900 stores over a three-year period. That plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
Store closure decisions are based on a variety of factors, according to Thibault, including population shifts, consumer buying patterns and the number of stores in an area. Also, it is important to have the right kinds of stores in the right location, she said.
Thibault said there are no plans to close additional Schenectady stores.
