Gov. Kathy Hochul revealed new details about how $53 million from the state budget will improve safety at parks.
The funding will support improvements to fencing and lighting as well as the installation of security cameras and license plate recognition systems.
All staff will receive new training on visitor engagement, missing person response, and human trafficking awareness.
Several of these improvements are coming after the kidnapping of a young girl at Moreau Lake State Park last fall. The girl was found alive a couple of days later.
