Hochul proposes to improve access to medical treatment
There is growing support for Gov. Kathy Hochul’s proposals to improve access to health care for injured workers, she said.
One of her goals in her 2025 State of the State is to create more options for care for people who are hurt or become ill on the job. One proposal would be universally authorizing all eligible licensed health care providers to treat workers’ compensation claimants.
A second proposal allows resident or fellow physicians to treat injured workers under a supervising provider the same way they do for regular health insurance.
Today, 40% of injured workers travel to a different county to receive care from a board-authorized provider.
