The New York State Department of Transportation is announcing the start of a nearly $10 million project, aimed at making Route 146 in Clifton Park safer. It focuses specifically on one stretch of that road: the intersection with Tallow Wood Drive, and Old Route 146.
Besides resurfacing the roadway, the project will install upgraded traffic signals with video detection equipment.
An additional through-travel lane will also be added on Route 146 east from Route 9 to Old Route 146.
A new right turn lane will be added at the Fire Road intersection for vehicles entering the Northway.
This is all part of an effort to improve access to the heavily-traveled corridor, the DOT said.
Work is expected to be complete by the summer of 2026.
