NY boating safety certificate now required
NY boating safety certificate now required for all boat operators, regardless of age.
New York state is reminding boat operators that they need to have a safety certificate to hit the waters.
The certificate is required of all boat operators. They also must take a safety class. The requirement was being phased in gradually, but it is now mandated for all ages.
Operators of non-motorized boats like canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are not required to have a certificate but are also encouraged to take a boating safety course.
