Pair arrested in connection with Pittsfield vehicle break-ins

Pittsfield Police arrested two people in connection with car break-ins early Tuesday morning.
A caller reported to police that they saw someone inside their vehicle in the area of 130 Robbins Ave. The caller provided a clothing description, and when officers arrived, they found a person matching that description.
After interviewing the man, the officer looked through a backpack that the suspect said was not his. He claimed he had just found it. Inside the bag, police found an identification belonging to that man as well as wallets belonging to other people, jewelry, keys, a cell phone and other items, police said.
As the man was being interviewed, other officers became aware of movement in a nearby backyard. They chased a woman who was also connected to the motor vehicle break-in.
Police returned several stolen items.
The suspects, whose names were not immediately released, were scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday morning.
Anyone in the Daniels Avenue area who believes their vehicles were broken into and had items stolen is asked to contact Officer Ladd 413-448-9700 ext. 586.
