Schenectady man sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty on weapons charges

A Schenectady man has been sentenced on weapons charges in connection with an incident on Crane Street three years ago.

A judge sentenced Demetrius Howard to 10 years in prison after he was found guilty on multiple weapons charges.

In October 2022, he was seen getting a bag containing a loaded gun from a woman who had an active arrest warrant.

Police tried to take the bag away, but Howard grabbed the officer’s wrist to try to pull it away and then ran off.

He was later taken into custody and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

Howard was found guilty in January of last year.
