Schenectady woman allegedly drove drunk, crashed into light pole at Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office

A Schenectady woman was arrested after police said she drove while drunk and crashed into the front yard of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Kayla M. August, 22, is facing multiple charges after the incident that took place last Saturday.
August was traveling south on Riverside Drive, when she failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Route 5S across the entrance to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
She traveled through the intersection and struck the concrete base overhead light fixture, which caused significant damage to the vehicle and the light pole.
A deputy returning to the station at the end of his shift saw the crash.
August failed field sobriety testing and was arrested.
She was charged with criminal mischief, DWI, driving while ability impaired by combination of drugs and alcohol, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, having an uninspected motor vehicle and other violations.
August was released on an appearance ticket and is due in Glen Town Court at a later date.
