Sentencing delayed for man convicted in fatal Rotterdam stabbing

The sentencing for the man convicted of fatally stabbing a man on New Year’s Day in 2022 has been delayed.

Christopher Smith-Wadsworth was found guilty in Albany of killing Sutlesh Girdharry, 24.

The sentencing had been scheduled for Tuesday, but it is now set for July 30 at 9:30 a.m.

The killing stemmed from a fight at a New Year’s party at a house on Curry Road in Rotterdam. A group of people had left the gathering after an argument and returned later with another group of people.

Smith-Wadsworth stabbed Girdharry multiple times. Girdharry was unarmed at the time.

A jury in April convicted Smith-Wadsworth of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
