NASA pilot Jim Less, a Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute graduate, is literally reaching for the stars.

NASA and Lockheed Martin will roll out the X-59 experimental aircraft, which is its first of a kind jet.

This is part of the Quesst Mission to fly at supersonic speeds without generating loud sonic booms.

A demonstration on Friday will show the aircraft is safe to fly, said Less.

Friday’s demonstration will also show how the aircraft is as quiet as predicted.
