18-year-old arrested for having stolen handgun

Albany Police say they arrested 18-year-old John Lafore of Albany on Saturday night for possession of a handgun, which was later discovered to be stolen.

Officers responded to Yazzy’s Market at 651 Central Avenue, following a call for a person who had fallen.

When they arrived, they found Lafore to be in possession of the handgun, said police.

Authorities say Lafore was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Albany City Criminal Court at a later date.
