State Attorney General Letitia James is trying to stop a scam that involves people posing as election officials and confronting voters at their homes.

The attorney general’s office sent a cease and desist letter to New York Citizens Audit, a group accused of taking part in this scam, according to the Associated Press.

The group allegedly went to voters’ homes and falsely accused them of committing voter fraud.
James wants the group to stop and turn over records about its visits.
