A comprehensive look at local, statewide and national news events is provided by the NewsChannel 13 Team, along with updates on sports and the weather forecast.

The Albany Curling Club (ACC) is hosting a series of Learn to Curl sessions on January 9-11. Anyone interested in curling can come and learn ice safety, basic rules, stone delivery, sweeping technique, and scoring in this 2-hour session, and you’ll even get to play a couple of ends.

The event is open to adults 18 and over, so sign up as a single or bring a group of friends to learn all about this fun and social sport! ACC is a two-sheet curling club, so to maximize your experience, they will limit the number of people per time slot to sixteen, with eight people per sheet. The event is $30 per person (non-refundable), and advance registration through this site is required. Walk-ins and guests are not permitted.

The youth open house will happen on January 12 from 1-3 pm.

Make sure to bring clean sneakers and dress in comfortable layers (no jeans) to move in! All other equipment and instructions will be provided. Locker rooms will be available along with information on membership opportunities and leagues available to first-year curlers.
