The city of Albany wants to go green for cheap.
City leaders held a Drop It-Swap It event, where people brought reusable items that they no longer need, to give to someone else.
A couple of hundred people showed up to the event.
This was all part of the city’s waste less, recycling more campaign.
There’s a sense of community at this type of event, because people are working together to achieve a sustainable goal, the deputy commissioner for the department of general services said.
This was the first time the city held this type of event but the hope is to hold another one in the fall.
