Albany hosts ‘Her Crown’ to celebrate female entrepreneurs
While men-owned businesses make up a larger share of the market—about 55%, according to one study—women-owned businesses continue to drive economic growth, employing over ten million workers last year.
To further support and empower female entrepreneurs, the City of Albany will be hosting its annual event, Her Crown: Celebrating Female Entrepreneurs, at the Arbor Hill Community Center this Saturday.
Now in its third year, the event—organized by the Albany Department of Recreation—honors Women’s History Month by providing women in business with valuable resources, networking opportunities, and community support.
Lakeiya White, Community Outreach Coordinator for the department, emphasized the impact of the event.
“To know that our department could actually host something like this and put [women] in positions where they can make their business flourish… There are financial literacy experts, people who can help you get a space for your business if you’re selling food from home, and even healthcare providers like MVP and CDPHP—all women—offering guidance,” White said.
The celebration, which will take place from 2 to 5 p.m., will feature food and products from local vendors and showcase the resilience, creativity, and brilliance of women in business.
