Albany man, 18, charged in stabbing

An 18-year-old Albany man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing on Wednesday.

Joseph Writer is accused of stabbing a 32-year-old man in the hip at a Liebel Street home at about 6:10 p.m. The incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute, police said.

The victim was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to Albany Medical Center Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. 

Writer fled the scene but was stopped a short distance away and arrested.

He was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Winter was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court and released under the supervision of Albany County Probation.
