An Albany man is facing drug and other charges after a high-speed chase on the Thruway. The chase topped speeds of 120 miles per hour, police said.

State Police stopped a vehicle driven by Charles M. McCormick, 31, at around 3:20 a.m. Sunday in the town of Athens for a traffic violation. McCormick was under the influence of drugs, according to police.

McCormick allegedly resisted arrest and left the scene.

Police used a tire deflation device and McCormick’s vehicle stopped on the shoulder.

McCormick was arrested without incident. Police said they found over a gram of crack cocaine, over 140 grams of cocaine and more than 15 grams of fentanyl in his vehicle.

McCormick is facing a long list of charges, including assault on a police officer, two counts of reckless endangerment, six counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a vehicle, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.
