Albany man gets 25 years in prison for assault on women, illegal gun
An Albany man was sentenced on Friday to 25 years in prison for having an illegal gun and assaulting women – one of whom was pregnant with his child.
Jeffrey Everett, 35, was arrested after police said he had an illegal, loaded firearm and struck a woman in the head and body and kicked her in the face. The incident took place on Dec. 19, 2021, in the area of Grand Street and Madison Avenue, according to the Albany County District’s Attorney Office.
Video evidence showed Everett attacked the two women unprovoked, pulled them by their hair out of a car and beat them in the street, according to Judge Roger McDonough.
“He ragdolls them, he kicks them, slaps them, punches them. … All of those things were just particularly vicious from the court’s perspective,” McDonough said in a statement.
Everett also was accused of possessing cocaine and crack cocaine on or about Jan. 24, 2022.
Everett was convicted in August following a jury trial on charges of criminal possession of a weapon, assault and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
