Albany Police make arrest in North Pearl St shooting incident
Albany Police say 20-year-old Stanford Jones Jr. of Albany was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting incident that happened Friday night on North Pearl Street.
Police responded to the scene around 6:10 p.m. to the 200 block of North Pearl Street for reports of a shooting.
Officers learned that a 26-year-old male was shot in the hand and he transported himself to Albany Medical Center.
The suspect in the shooting had fled the scene in a vehicle, which was tracked to Congress Street in Troy, said police.
Authorities say that the Troy Police Department were able to stop the vehicle and took all occupants into custody.
Through investigation, Albany Police learned that Jones Jr. and the 26-year-old victim were involved in a physical altercation, during which Jones Jr. shot the victim’s hand.
Police say Jones Jr. has been charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree assault.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday morning in Albany City Criminal Court.
