The Albany Water Department will begin flushing and inspecting hydrants Monday.

Hydrants are flushed every year to ensure that they are performing properly and reliably.
Crews say it can cause low water pressure and temporary water discoloration, but that is normal.
However, if a load of laundry is washed while water is discolored, it can cause discoloration to your clothes.
Flushing will continue through October.
