Oakdale Lake Beach in the city of Hudson will remain closed until the blooms have been cleared and the Columbia County Department of Health has given approval to reopen it.

People and animals should not drink the water or swim in it and should avoid contact with any algae blooms, scums and colored water, the county said. The blooms can turn the water green and thick foam can form on the water. It can also cause skim or eye irritation.
